Leaving your familiar home for new possibilities takes courage. In 2006, that’s what I did. I said goodbye to Amsterdam, my hometown in the Netherlands, and headed to Portland, Oregon, seeking new experiences that would change my life.

Life is like a constantly changing piece of art. I used to be a traditional artist with brushes and paints, but I found a new way to “tell my stories” – through digital design. Shifting from a traditional artist to a graphic designer with a laptop was a big change. It opened up a new chapter, where pixels became my paint, and the world of design became my canvas.

In graphic design, limitations can actually make ideas flow better. Just like a canvas has its edges, design projects have limits too. These limits, like time and resources, can actually lead to more creative ideas. I learned that creativity shines when it has some structure to work with.
From Lost to Found: Navigating Challenges, Gaining Clarity
Challenges often lead to finding our purpose. Moving to a new country, adjusting to a different culture, and learning a new language can be tough. But in the middle of all these changes, a path started to show itself. What was once confusing became clear. The challenges I faced helped me grow personally and make important decisions for my business.
